In “Regional Bites and Delights” Cooking Camp, students will embark on a culinary road trip across America. Each day will be a a sweet and savory adventure that includes regional ingredients and recipes to be made by each student. From the Low Country of Louisiana to the sunny shores of Hawaii—with several stops along the way— each participant will explore delicious bites and delights as they learn, cook, and have fun.

Day 1 — California, Minnesota, and Nebraska
Focus: Knife Skills & Kitchen Safety
 
• Homemade Granola with Fruit and Yogurt (California)
• Tater Tots Meat and Cheese Casserole (Minnesota)
• Sweet and Savory Corncakes (Nebraska)

Day 2 — Louisiana, Michigan, New York, and West Virginia
Focus: Reading a Recipe, Cooking Times, Food Safety
• Sausage and Chicken Jambalaya (Louisiana)
• Cherry Chicken Salad (Michigan and South Carolina)
• Apple Butter Meatballs (West Virginia and New York)

Day 3 — Hawaii, Florida, New Jersey, and Virginia
Focus: Food Shopping, Food Plating, Food Service
• Pineapple Chicken Skewers (Hawaii)
• Coconut Lime Rice (Puerto Rico and Florida)
• Tomato Salad with Homemade Vinaigrette (New Jersey)
• Sugar Cookie Fruit Pizza (Virginia)

 

Notes for parents:
Please have the child’s hair pulled back out of their face
No open toed shoes
Long sleeve shirts not recommended
